Overview
The G700, with advanced TDM/IP architecture, the full capabilities of Avaya Communication Manager, and an internal Ethernet switch, can be used as a standalone solution or as a remote edge device ideally suited for enterprises with locations that have 40-450 extensions.
The G700 Media Gateway is a 19-inch 2U chassis containing 4 media module bays and one network expansion module bay. The G700 Media Gateway contains an integrated Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) engine which can support up to 64 G.711 TDM/IP simultaneous calls, or 32 compression codec (G.729, G.726A or G.723) TDM/IP simultaneous calls. Additionally, an optional VoIP compression media module adds support for an additional 64 channels. It has two 10/100 Ethernet ports and a serial port for Command Line Interface (CLI) access. The G700 Media Gateway offers optional media modules for WAN and endpoint connectivity.
The G700 can also be configured with an S8300 Media Server for internal call control or a survivable gateway. The S8300 supports an Avaya IA770 INTUITY™ Audix® internal voicemail system. Using the Avaya Octaplane® Stacking Fabric, up to 10 G700 Media Gateways and Avaya C360 switches can be stacked. Multiple stacks may be connected to each other via fiber, ATM, gigabit copper, etc.
Business Benefits
-
Networked Telephony: The Avaya networked server/gateway architecture allows enterprises to design and administer Communication Manager-based telephony services for all remote branch office locations from one central location.
-
Centralized Applications extended to the branch: In addition to Communication Manager-based Telephony, capabilities like voice messaging and contact center can be extended to the branch with the benefits of centralized management.
-
Business Continuity: The G700 provides branch office users with a highly resilient system that continues to provide telephony call control even if the connection between the office and primary headquarters is lost.
-
Multi-Protocol Capability: Seamless TDM/IP support allows enterprises to take an evolutionary approach to IP telephony migration by maximizing investment protection for existing analog and digital devices.
-
Converged Stackable Device: The G700 integrates telephony and data switching into one stacking fabric, reducing the overhead and complexity of managing disparate gateways and switches.
Features
Networked Telephony
The Avaya networked server/gateway architecture allows enterprises to design and administer Communication Manager-based telephony services for remote branch office locations from one central location. The G700 Media Gateway serves as a branch node of a centralized Communication Manager-based IP telephony network.
As a networked gateway the G700 can reduce costs by enabling telephony administration and management to be handled centrally while improving employee productivity by giving branch users access to the same rich telephony services that headquarters employees use.
Local Survivable Processor (LSP) Support
An S8300 Media Server can optionally be installed in the G700 as a Local Survivable Processor that takes over telephony control as server of last resort should the IP WAN link to the G700 location be severed.
The LSP option enhances availability to the remote office by providing a local server option that continues to provide telephony service in the event of a WAN failure.
Internal Call Controller (ICC)
Supports configuration of an internal S8300 Media Server as an Internal Call Controller. In this mode the G700 acts as a standalone telephony gateway/server.
The ICC option allows organizations to deploy the G700 as a standalone IP Telephony system in a single location.
Multi-Protocol Support
An integrated TDM/IP architecture supports a variety of station and trunk interface options including IP telephones, DCP digital telephones, analog telephones and trunks, E1/T1 trunks, ISDN PRI and ISDN BRI trunks, and E1/T1 WAN data lines.
The G700 can be configured for integration into a wide variety of all TDM, hybrid TDM/IP and all IP telephony environments, giving enterprises great flexibility to adapt to changing business needs
Shared Modules and Servers with the G350 Media Gateway
The G350 and G700 Media Gateways share many common media modules and the same S8300 Media Server.
Reduces need for spare parts inventory and training costs, and provides a common architectural base that covers office locations from 8-450 users. |
